2008 P & D Restricted Tournament Rachael Williams and Abi Maunder were winners of the ladies doubles at the End of Season Restricted Tournament |
9 Dec 2007 P & D Christmas Tournament BATS sent 6 pairs to the Plymouth and District annual handicapped mixed tournament.
To the club's great credit, three of the four semi finalist pairs were from BATS. This inevitably meant that two of our pairs fought it out in the semis for a place in the final. Jonathan Freeman and Abi Maunder were the unlucky pair to go out. They were knocked out by Rachael Williams and Alan Berry. Julian Cooper and Heather Cooper won their place in the final by beating Jo and Andy Jackson from the Builders club. The final went right to the wire in an epic three ender. Julian and Heather had an uphill struggle with a handicap of minus 9 but managed to win the first end 21/18. Rachael and Alan, with a handicap of plus 4 took the second end 21/16. The third end was a real nail biter and was finally won by Rachael and Alan 21/20. Pl;ayer of the day must go to Rachael, who played well all day and brilliantly in the final.
