Alan Berry
Alan, for many years, assisted Heather at Bere Alston before taking on the Lead Coach role in 2009 on Heathers retirement. He also worked alongside the coach at Horrabridge before taking on the role as Lead Coach there in 2000.
  • 1995 Qualified as Level 1 Coach;
  • 1998 Qualified as Level 2 Coach;
  • 2000 retrained to new Level 2 Coaching Standard
  • February 2010 qualified as Badminton Tournament Referee;
  • December 2010 qualified as assessor for 'Young Officials Award'
  • October 2011 qualified as Basic First Aider under HSE course

Current Coaching Positions:

  • Head coach at BAT's Badminton Club
  • Lead coach for Horrabridge Badminton Club
  • Lead coach for Tavistock College After School Club
  • Assistant coach for Tavistock Community Sports Centre 'No-Strings' Badminton Session

Abi Maunder
Abi was coached from a youngster at Horrabridge by Alan and Heather, going onto represent Devon County at Junior Level.
  • February 2010 qualified as Badminton Tournament Referee;
  • May 2010 qualified as a UKCC Level 1 coach;
  • September 2010 took on the 'Coaching Coordinators' role within BAT's Badminton Club;
  • March 2011 qualified as a UKCC Level 2 coach
  • October 2011 qualified as Basic First Aider under HSE course

Current Coaching Positions:

  • Lead Coach for Tavistock Community Sports Centre 'No-Strings' Badminton Session

Rachael Williams
Having been coached from a young age by both Heather and Alan, Rachael began her coaching working alongside Alan with the West Devon players getting ready for the Devon Games to Inspire.
  • February 2010 qualified as Badminton Tournament Referee;
  • May 2010 qualified as a UKCC Level 1 coach;
  • June 2011 qualified as a UKCC Level 2 coach

Coaching Experience:

  • Each May/July 2009/2011 - DGTI West Devon Badminton Squad Co-Manager

James David
James, having been coached at BAT's as a junior for a number of years, began helping with the coaching of the junior players in 2009.
  • May 2010 qualified as a UKCC Level 1 coach.
  • June 2011 qualified as a UKCC Level 2 coach

Colette was keen to become a badminton coach when the opportunity arose.

Matthew Barwell
Matthew joined the club during the summer and took the opportunity to become a coach.

Glecy Bernardo
Glecy plays out of Callington Badminton Club.

Julian Cooper
Julian began playing badminton as a youngster and worked his way up through the junior club to represent Devon County at both junior and senior level whilst still representing BAT's Badminton Club. Julian now plays his badminton at Callington Badminton Club whilst still available to BAT's Badminton Club as a 'guest coach'.
  • 1995 Qualified as Level 1 Coach;
  • 1998 Qualified as Level 2 Coach;
  • 2000 retrained to new Level 2 Coaching Standard

Heather Cooper
Heather, until her retirement, was the matriarch behind badminton in Bere Alston. It began with coaching juniors and, after a move to the new Community Sports Hall in the Primary School, adults. Not long after the move BAT's Badminton Club was set up so that junior players could experience more challenging badminton through league play.
  • 1990 Qualified as Level 1 Coach;
  • 1995 Qualified as Level 2 Coach;
  • 2000 Retrained to new Level 2 Coaching Standard.
